Community Baboon Sanctuary

Located in the village of Bermudian Landing some 25 miles North East of Belize City, the Community Baboon Sanctuary is quite a unique collaboration between local landowners and conservationists. Land was put aside to ensure the local population of Howler Monkeys (a.k.a. Baboons in Belize) had a continuous route to travel throughout their traditional feeding area. An ingenious set of ropes walks help maintain this primate highway. A Visitors Center is located on the edge of the village, where guests are briefed and then guided through forest trails to watch the "Baboons" in their natural habitat.
